Unbuilt - Performing Arts Center for a Central Indiana College, 2007
This project was created as a study to assist with visualization and fund raising.
The design concept placed a dedicated theater and music performance space under
one roof plus support and public spaces along with a related academic program.
The design takes inspiration from the tension between the performance disciplines
and the dynamic of technology transformed and frozen in the architecture. The site
is flat and the building stretches along an adjacent street so that the plan dimension
strongly favors the horizontal. Linear elements are created, multiplied, repeated
and terminated. Public spaces are highly transparent to emphasize the relationship
with the street.
